Joe Torre

1964 Topps Joe Torre Baseball Card

Where to Aim a Bunt. With a man on first, there sometimes are advantages to aiming your bunt down one baseline as opposed to another, but that's usually a matter of who the particular infielders are. If the third baseman doesn't have good hands or good movement, then bunt toward him. You're more likely to bunt toward first base if the first baseman is right-handed, because he has to turn around to throw to second base. If you're trying to bunt a runner over to third, you should try to make the third baseman come in to field the ball, by bunting it hard to third. ~ Pitching & Hitting, 1977
