| Cattle are a true symbol of the
American West and cattle ranching is one of the oldest industries in the
United States. It is also an industry that has gone through an enormous
amount of change over the decades. David Stoecklein’s photographs follow
some of these changes and reveal this complex world to all of us as he
visits some of the most famous cattle ranches across the country. Jack
Goddard’s text covers the history of the industry as well as the inner
workings of modern cattle operations.
