These sessions include pottery,
glass blowing, basket weaving, photography, jewelry making, painting, metal working,
and sculpture. Not only do they help the masters of each craft pay
their bills, but they provide an invaluable forum for sharing ideas
with fellow artisans and students. And, since arts centers frequently
occupy imaginative quarters in a romantic settings, the workshops are
something of a working vacation for everyone involved.

Photography is an art form with many practitioners, but few true masters. In the realm of nature photography, John Shaw
is a member of that class. His nature shots grace the pages of
magazines like Audubon, Natural History and National Geographic. When
he's not in the field, he conducts workshops at locations throughout
the country. Recent locales included Sanibel Island in south Florida,
the Saguaro National Monument in Arizona, Olympic National Park in
Washington, and the Triple D Game Ranch in Montana. John Shaw

as printmaker Larry Thomas, photographer Gary Braasch, calligrapher
Inga Dubay, and woodcarver Bob Berry. Sitka Center for Art and
